I recently had several problems all arise at the same time (server
crashing, new networking software, new server, and much more), so when
problems currently arise I can't be sure of the source. Today a new
problem presented itself after I had created a new roaming profile for
myself. I got this warning when I clicked on a link to Excel 2003

"Do you want to open this file?" Well, yes! I work in Excel every day
and I didn't fancy the prospect of answering this question each time.
Clicking on a few more desktop links gave me the same warning dialog
each time.
I eventually found the solution at:

The first solution suggested worked for me, so I'm repeating it here.
Internet Options > Security > Local Intranet > Sites.
Make sure the dialog looks like this:

This also solved another problem I was experiencing with my intranet
site which had just started to insist that I had to sign in:

"Connect to companyweb" was also annoying as it also appeared to be
associated with my creation of a roaming profile. Again, this issue was
solved by the above solution. |
