Bread pudding

Ingredients
- Large White Loaf
- 4oz shredded suet
- 4oz soft brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon black treacle
- 6oz cleaned currents
- 6oz cleaned sultanas
- 4oz cleaned raisins
- 2oz mixed chopped peal
- Pinch salt
- 2 heaped teaspoons mixed spice
- 2 large eggs, beaten
Process
- Oven to 375 deg F (Gas mark 5)
- Line 9 inch square tin with greaseproof paper
- Tear bread into small pieces (including crust)
- Soak bread in water for an hour.
- Drain water - squeeze out as much as possible
- Add suet, sugar, treacle, currents, sultanas, raisins, peel, salt,
mixed spice and eggs.
- Mix well
- Turn mixture into tin
- Cook in preheated oven for 1 hour 15 minutes (Aga cooking time could
be much less, say 1 hour)
- Cut into squares
- Serve with sugar, custard, cream, evaporated milk, or just eat by
itself.
